Obtaining Asylum in the United States
Political asylum may be granted to those who are being persecuted in their country of origin due to race, religion, nationality, or political views. For a person to be granted Asylum, 3 requirements have to be met:
•The applicant has must establish fear of persecution in their country
•The applicant must show proof of persecution due to race, religion, political opinion, nationality, or social group.
•The applicant must prove that the government is either associated in the persecution, or unable to control it.
If the person is in the US, asylum may be granted. If granted, the person can now legally work and live in the US.
